WE CULTIVATE THE FUTURE

Earth, Hand, Time

ABOUT US

Lucilla and Gabriele

Lucilla was born in Florence. From her father, who grew up in the Mugello countryside, she inherited a love for the land and respect for its rhythms.

Gabriele is from Bologna and spent his childhood in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, where a connection with nature has always been part of his daily life.

For many years, we lived in the city and both worked in the financial sector—a career path that has been a significant part of our lives.

Over time, we developed a desire to build something of our own, closer to nature and its rhythm. This decision led us to Montalcino, where we restored an old country house and founded Sangiolele.

Today, we personally take care of the estate, the vineyard, the olive grove, the fig grove, and our guests’ comfort. Every day is different from the one before, but they all share the same dedication to the land, its bounty, and the people who choose to stay here.

The scent of the earth, working with our hands, and the changing seasons reflect our way of life.

The Estate

Sangiolele is a farm in the heart of the Val d’Orcia, a landscape designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where the land, hospitality, and scenery coexist in harmony.

The estate’s location—just a few minutes from Montalcino and along some of the region’s most iconic routes, such as the Eroica, the Strade Bianche, and the Rally del Brunello—makes it an ideal starting point for exploring the Val d’Orcia, with its villages, vineyards, dirt roads, and landscapes that shift as the hours pass. Here, the most authentic essence of Tuscany takes shape—defined by the seasons, harvests, and a deep connection to the land.

THE VINEYARD

Our wines

The character and aromas of our wines come from a small, one-hectare vineyard located in the Montalcino area, at an elevation of 250 meters, on sandy-clay soils facing southwest.
The harvest is done entirely by hand. Each cluster is selected one by one directly in the vineyard, ensuring that only the finest grapes—harvested at the peak of ripeness—reach the winery.
Only grapes from our own vineyards are brought into the winery.
Exclusively.
From these grapes, our 100% Sangiovese Orcia DOC is born.

LA FICAIA

Our figs

The fig tree is an ancient plant, with roots that run deep in mythology and culture. Its lush charm never goes out of style.
Blonde, red, black, pink, orange: the unique colors of the 32 varieties of heirloom seeds give rise to plants that grow with strength and determination, yet also with delicacy and gentleness.

Growing figs requires patience, careful observation, and time. Each fruit is harvested by hand only when it has reached perfect ripeness, so that you can enjoy its full range of aromas and flavors.

THE OLIVE GROVE

Our extra virgin olive oil

Sangiolele extra virgin olive oil comes exclusively from a small olive grove planted with varieties typical of the Montalcino region.

The early harvest, carried out exclusively by hand, preserves the olive’s natural character, resulting in a vibrant, harmonious oil rich in aromas.

Certified as a Tuscan PGI with the special designation “Colline Senesi,” it tells the story of a vintage and a way of cultivating the land.

TRADITION AND SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION

Sangiolele: An Innovative Startup

Innovation

Promoting social awareness towards a healthy and sustainable food system is our ambition. The combination of ancient cultivars and modern technology is giving birth to a low-glycemic index fig compote, in collaboration with the University of Florence. Ancient seed figs, with no added sugar, combined with fibers of vegetable origin from circular economy are ideal for those suffering from diabetes, cardiovascular problems or obesity and encapsulate the essence of our philosophy.

Quality and Health

For us, quality means respect for the environment and for all people: a physical and spiritual balance. We love the beauty of our products, the positive relationships and the well-being of people.
We take care of every detail, with joy and passion, happy to offer you the best of our work.
